“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
― George Bernard Shaw
When you hear most people say, “I am going to find myself”, find what I say?
Their is never a need to go searching from what is already inside of you. The only way to find out is to take the journey within and discover who you truly are.
Creating one’s own life is to be able to be courageous enough or should I say be daring enough to look within. Creating your life is to invent and reinvent your life in such a way that the former person no longer exists. It should be one of those things that you can look back on and see how far you’ve come. This is to be the greatest story ever told that others may not see but that you over time witness the evolution of your life in real time.
I’ve often asked myself when I transform my life and you no longer see me is that a good thing? For me or for you? It would be very selfish of you to even think that way. That tells me that you are happy with seeing me not happy and remaining unchanged as you are. I so personally dislike this when people often say “I know you” when they truly don’t know me and they really don’t know themselves. They are living life in their own mirror, their own reflection of their past. This is why so many are judgemental and they see
in waters that are murky with no clarity.
It is a very dangerous thing when humanity fails to move and change in a direction that is positive, healthy. productive, and beneficial for all. When we move in directions that are not “out of love” but divisiveness and exclusivity we start to stray away from what we call ourselves, and that is being human.
We lose the best parts of ourselves only to go lower and lower on the “humanity totem pole.”
Creating a life for yourself is the life worth living. It is the life you discover and create out of the becoming the person that you were meant to be. When you begin to create, you become a co creator with the Creator in taking ownership of everything that you want out of life. It is a “taking the bull by the horns” and revolutionizing your life in such a way that you are now in total control of your choices. Even more important, you take total responsibility for each and every decision you make, good or bad, to heart, and not looking at everyone else and making them the cause or result of YOUR decisions. It is a position of power, your personal power and only you can make the choice to take charge and become the best version of yourself. Not easy but not impossible either.
What makes this all possible you might ask? A mindset of choosing to choose and not passively resigning yourself to sitting back and doing absolutely nothing and create change and create a better life for yourself. When you resign yourself to the “status quo” you are actively saying to and of yourself that you are content with the way you are and see no need for improvement. You are also saying that you have no desire to improve the world in which you live. Yours and the world as a whole. Do you realize the impact of your decision?
But why should you care?
Not doing anything to improve you life means no worries, no challenges to face, easy breezy, so you think. Making a conscience decision to not improve your world as well as the the world in which you live is by all means a detriment to you and society as a whole. It is this kind thinking which results in a laziness approach to life that we are seeing the things in this world take place minute by minute and day by day. Most people don’t realize the impact that choices have on their lives and the impact is far reaching, global.
This approach to life as I see it is a “see what we choose to see not what actually is.” It’s an approach that leaves us helpless and hopeless in attaining the life we want only that we are to lazy to see what this lack of awareness is actually doing.
If I were to define true leadership I would say this..
True leadership is when you become a proactive human being for yourself, your family, your community, and then the world around you. This takes place progressively as you take the first step into becoming a responsible human being to yourself first, then so on. It’s not about popularity with trends that change day by day, but by the daily unseen tasks that are taking place by individuals where no one can see and is only seen by its results. It’s these ordinary things that make things so extraordinary that I liken its effect to a positive “domino” effect that has the potential to improve, impact, and change the world!
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
We have opportunities each and every day to choose and re-choose the life we want. Life is about choice and the opportunities or lack of that present themselves as a result of those choices. We can choose from a position of love which is power or not which still is. We can choose how we respond to to the day to day options that invade our lives by passively doing nothing or taking an active positive stance, not based on anger or hate, but by choosing to see the best in ourselves, yes that is a choice, and improving there and making that difference.
How will you choose?
